Furniture supplier Flexsteel Industries Inc., Dubuque, Iowa, last week cut 12 jobs through layoffs and eliminated positions, according to a report in the Sioux Falls Argus Leader.
Company officials announced the reductions are the result of “sluggish business conditions and consolidation.”
“Our recreational vehicle business has really sagged in the last two months,” said Tom Baldwin, a company spokesman.
Flexsteel reported modest first-quarter profit and revenue declines in its earnings report issued Oct. 19 while outlining the impact of rising raw material and energy costs.
Flexsteel said in the report it would be implementing price increases for its seating products, and continue to “explore cost control opportunities in all facets of its business.”
