FMCA representatives say they estimate that up to 4,000 people and 1,700 motorcoaches are part of this year’s rally at the 100th International Convention and RV Expo, according to a report by KFYR TV. The event opened Wednesday (Aug. 14) in Minot, N.D., at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds and features more than 100 seminars hosted by FMCA members and RV suppliers. Michelin will present a lecture on care for RV tires, Spartan Specialty Vehicles and Chassis will cover chassis maintenance, and Cummins will be on hand to answer engine questions. There also are workshops on microwave cooking, quilting and first aid, along with competitive games and music performances. Also on tap is an RV driving school, designed to instruct members how to operate an RV safely. “Very large vehicles are a little different than a car. You have a lot more weight and a lot more length to deal with, especially going around corners and those kinds of things. So it is very helpful to have the instruction,” said Steve Medlin, Colorado Springs, Colo. The convention is set to conclude on Saturday.
