2010-chaparralForest River Inc.’s Coachmen RV division has redesigned the 2010 mid-profile Chaparral fifth-wheel with a new fiberglass front cap that allows the coach to pivot 90 degrees from the tow vehicle. “We call it ‘TurnTec engineering,”’ said Fred Hershberger, sales manager for the Chaparral, one of the first new products offered by the Coachmen division since Forest River purchased it from Coachmen Industries Inc. in December. The company said the new Chaparral was built to be “ready for anything” including dry camping with features such as 12-volt lighting and stereo power, a dedicated space for a generator and a fully enclosed underbelly. Termination valves are also enclosed to handle extreme weather. The Chaparral is available in nine 28- to 35-foot floorplans with up to three slideouts and one layout features a rear loft. The new Chaparral also includes heavy-duty axles, Equa-Flex suspension, larger pass-through storage and an “arctic package” for cold weather camping. MSRPs start at $27,900.
