Luxury coach builder Foretravel Inc., Nacogdoches, Texas, has introduced the high-end Phenix Class A motorhome as part of the company’s 2006 model year lineup – the first offering under Foretravel’s new ownership group.
Foretravel, purchased recently by a group of investors headed by President Lyle Reed, said in a press release that the Phenix is targeted at three groups of buyers: Traditional Foretravel enthusiasts who want more, a new and growing group of upwardly mobile younger buyers and customers who have specialty or custom needs that most manufacturers cannot provide.
“We understand we’re in a niche market,” said Reed. “We want to rewrite the handbook on motorcoach quality, and we plan to focus on ride, driveability, fit and finish, and value.”
Built with the maximum number of sliderooms, the new Phenix offers a taller interior, additional under-coach storage and greater exterior height, while maintaining the ability to lower the airbags and drive under a 12-foot door.
The coach comes equipped with a new Cummins ISX 525-hp diesel engine along with an Allison transmission with retarder. Other features include an automatic roof-mounted awning with the ability to add up to three more patio awnings to both sides of the coach along with new exterior graphic designs and interior decors.
Foretravel’s management was unavailable for comment regarding pricing and other details on the Phenix, which is expected to be on display at late summer shows.
