Four Winds International Corp. previewed the new 2006 Magellan Class A gas-powered motorhome during Thor Fusion, a weeklong dealer open house in Indiana’s RV-building center of Elkhart County for five Thor Industries Inc. subsidiaries.
Highlights of the new model introduction included:
• The 2006 Magellan (left), with seven floorplans and up to four slideout rooms, is positioned at the top end of Four Winds’ gas lineup offering all-new interiors and more standard features. With retail base prices ranging from $110,530 to $127,890, Magellan straddles the high mid-price and low high-end gas segments. Built on Workhorse W22 and W24 chassis with GVWRs of 22,000 pounds and 24,000 pounds, the Magellan exterior sports 22 1/2-inch tires, large pass-through storage and similar caps. Inside, the cockpit sports a new dash, radios with larger buttons and displays, and a computer workstation for the passenger. Euro recliners, laminated tile floor, 84-inch ceilings and a standard 7.5kw generator are among the Magellan’s amenities.
• In the Mandalay Luxury Division, the company’s flagship diesel-powered coach – the Mandalay Class A (right) – features a new molded fiberglass front cap with a one-piece windshield, full-body paint and a new four-slide floorplan. With four 40-foot floorplans, Mandalay is built on a 34,320-pound GVWR Freightliner XC raised-rail chassis with standard 350-hp Caterpillar C7 or optional 400-hp Cummins ISL diesel engines and a base MSRP of $223,650. The new quad-slide 40F floorplan features a 30-inch deep passenger-side dinette slideout with a large window that overlooks the patio area.
