Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. is laying off another 225 workers at its Gaffney, S.C., truck-chassis plant, according to a report by TV station WYFF.
The company announced last month that it would lay off 100 workers and combine shifts at the plant. Those layoffs are scheduled to take effect next week.
The new round of job cuts will take effect Sept. 15, the company said.
The company said that the layoffs are necessary because of slowing demand for delivery vans and motorhomes.
With the two rounds of layoffs, the company will employ about 475 workers.
The plant makes chassis for motorhomes, delivery vans as well as small school and shuttle buses.
