Freightliner LLC has appointed Robert Harbin as president of Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC), Gaffney, S.C., succeeding Reid Bigland, who was recently promoted to president and CEO of DaimlerChrysler Canada.
According to a press release, Harbin will be responsible for all facets of the business, including engineering, manufacturing and sales.
Harbin most recently served as director of Tritec Motors, a joint venture between DaimlerChrysler and BMW in Brazil, and has held several management positions with DaimlerChrysler.
Before joining DaimlerChrysler, Harbin worked in manufacturing and sales engineering at General Motors and Delta Fluid Systems.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kettering University and a master’s degree in business management from the University of Michigan.
He has also completed the Program for Global Leadership at Harvard Business School.
