Freightliner Custom Chassis will raise its output of diesel motorhome chassis in October, although its production rate will continue to be sharply lower than it was at the end of 1999.

Currently, Freightliner, a unit of DaimlerChrysler AG, is assembling 14 RV chassis per day, compared with 38 a day at the end of last year, said Debi Nicholson, spokeswoman for the company.

In October, Freightliner plans to build 20 Class A motorhome chassis per day, Nicholson said.

“We have seen more slow down in the wholesale level than the retail level as manufacturers were in an oversupply position for a while,” Nicholson said.

However, order volume increased recently so Freightliner decided to raise its motorhome chassis production rate next month, she said.
