Friend Communications Inc. and parent company Leisure Holding Inc. have introduced CampingAds.com to assist the outdoor recreation industry in creating and placing online advertising. 
According to a press release, the new service enables business owners, state associations and Friend portal partners to utilize a network of outdoor hospitality websites to launch advertising targeted at the outdoor hospitality consumer.
“We had several objectives for the launch of CampingAds.com,” said Deb Kohls, vice president of Orange, Calif.-based Friend. “First, we wanted to provide advertisers and media placement agencies a better way to reach the lucrative camping and outdoor recreation consumer. We wanted to provide a way for camping and outdoor industry websites to monetize their consumer traffic through advertising. 
“Additionally, we wanted to create a simple, self-serve solution that would encourage businesses of any size to begin advertising online. It allows geographic specific businesses, like the local bowling alley or pizza parlor, to target consumers that are looking for things to do or places to dine in a specific geography.”
The system allows users to develop and place online ads. Businesses can upload pre-designed ads or use templates to help guide them through the creation process. They can also target specific markets or portals and advertise across the entire network of camping, RV and outdoor leisure websites. 
“CampingAds.com is an online advertising tool that makes it easy to design and control placement of advertising with no expertise or special training,” Kohl said.
Four portals are currently participating in the advertising network, including Camping.com (sister company to Friend), RVandCampOutWest.com, SouthwestCampgrounds.com and TravelingUSA.com.
