Darrel Friesen

Editor’s Note: The following column by Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) Chairman Darrel Friesen appearing in a Special Convention Issue, stressed the importance of attending the Nov. 6-10 event in Las Vegas and all the education opportunities available to dealers. Our industry continues to boom, despite forecasts that the momentum might have slowed by now. Instead, we continue to read stories about how young Millennial families are thronging to the RV lifestyle and fueling another boom in RV sales. And retiring Baby Boomers are still very much a part of the market. Demand for our products is high, and we need the expertise to satisfy and retain our ever more demanding customers.

That’s why the RV Dealers International Convention Expo is so important to dealers. It offers education and training that covers every dealership department, as well as special sessions for young up-and-coming RV executives, rental operators, and more.

I’d like to take the chance to highlight something new at this convention. Debuting this year on the expo floor is NTP-STAG’s Retail Tech and Idea Center, a model store where RV dealers can view innovative new merchandising ideas. The center will feature interactive displays and a genius bar staffed with designers who will discuss trends and tips for dealership stores. I hope you’ll check it out at the NTP-STAG booth V-200 – it’s sure to spark some creative ideas for updating your own store back home.

Finally, I’d like to thank Convention/Expo Committee Chairman Ron Shepherd and his team for their stellar work on making sure that this year’s event delivers the best possible experience for our association members. Everyone here at RVDA recognizes that dealers make a big commitment of time and resources when they and their staff come to the convention, and the committee members keep that top of mind as they carefully select the speakers and workshop presenters.

I hope this convention gives you renewed enthusiasm, usable information, training tips, management techniques, and more to take back to your dealerships.
