Fun Roads, the first television programming channel dedicated to the open road, will be launching on Xfinity TV this summer, according to a press release.

Led by CEO Ashley Gracile, a television industry veteran, Fun Roads will air in several markets across Comcast’s Florida region including southern Florida, West Palm Beach, Jacksonville, southwest Florida and the Panhandle.

Gracile entered RV television programming in 1989 with “Distant Roads,” the first weekly TV series about RVing which has been continuously broadcast every week and is now seen in 100 million homes. “It’s the All-American dream vacation. You know that epic road trip; with the top down, the wind in your hair and some great tunes,” Gracile says. “My childhood memories of family road trips are so unforgettable that I wanted the same connection with my kids, but there wasn’t any one source that helped me decide where to go and what to do on the way. So, I created Fun Roads to do just that.”

“We know that our Xfinity TV customers love to discover new and entertaining content and we are looking forward to bringing the Fun Roads programming lineup to them,” said Thomas Zemaitis, vice president for Comcast’s Florida Region.

Fun Road’s linear TV channel, mobile application and website will connect travelers with entertainment, information and trip planning services. All Fun Roads programming is family-friendly and includes wholly-owned content, acquired series, original programming, movies and special events.

Fun Roads’ initial programming lineup will draw from over 1,700 hours of programming featuring unique road-based travel and enthusiast content including RVing, trailered boating, adventure motorcycle touring, vacation rentals, birding, shopping, antiquing to culinary travel, cycling, tailgating, snowmobiling, retro travel, skiing and fishing.

“Fun Roads is purpose-built for viewing on mobile and streaming platforms so consumers can enjoy our content anytime, anywhere but especially when they’re on the move. In the coming weeks, we’re adding more cable TV coverage in Florida; specifically, in Tampa, St. Pete’s/Clearwater & Orlando. Shortly after that we’ll be announcing nationwide satellite & wireless distribution agreements and a groundbreaking international carriage deal,” said Marilyn Berryman, director of affiliate sales at Fun Roads.
