After another strong year in which Fun Town RV led the nation in towable RV sales for a single location, the dealer reported solid sales for the first two months of 2015. The Fun Town RV chain sold 547 new units between its four Texas locations through February for a 16.9% share of the towable market in Texas, according to Statistical Surveys Inc.
“I am very pleased with the latest numbers, “ said Jarrod McGhee, owner of Fun Town RV, in a press release. “Any time you can have all four stores finish in the top 10 in a state like Texas, and sell over twice as many units as the next closest chain, you have to be happy.”
Fun Town’s flagship store in Cleburne finished at No. 1, a spot it hasn’t relinquished in over two years, while Fun Town RV Houston was second, the company said. The Houston store represents the newest location in the chain, officially opening for business in October of 2014.
Helmed by industry veterans David Kidd and Charlie Minnick, the Houston store wasn’t in the top 50 in the state at the end of the year. The San Angelo and Waco stores finished at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively.
“We think Houston is an underserved market,” offered McGhee. “We knew going in that we should be able to make a splash.”
