One of the business world’s most well-known CEOs plans to visit Elkhart, Ind., later this month to talk with recreational vehicle industry leaders.
The Elkhart Truth reported that Jeffrey Immelt, CEO of behemoth conglomerate General Electric, will sit down with RV industry officials in Elkhart at a yet-to-be-announced date and location “at the end of the month,” Tim Hyland, RV Group president of GE Capital’s Commercial Distribution Finance unit, told RVBusiness in the latest “RV Capital Talk.”
“It’s going to be exciting to have Jeff come out,” Hyland told RVBusiness. “He’s going to meet with some of the industry leaders, and we look forward to showing him how Elkhart is benefiting from the resurgent RV industry and the great work we’re doing there.”
GE Capital is the nation’s largest lender to RV dealers, providing the capital they need to buy RVs from manufacturers before selling them to customers.
Bob Martin, CEO of Elkhart-based RV maker Thor Industries Inc., confirmed he’s one of the people who has been invited to the Immelt sit-down. Martin said he didn’t know where the meeting will take place, and he declined to say when it will happen, saying he wanted that information to come from GE. The company’s media relations people were not available for comment Friday.
