Gene E. Stout, executive vice president of corporate development at Coachmen Industries Inc. retired from the company on May 4 after 30 years of service at the 37-year-old firm.

Stout said he originally intended to retire a year earlier but he stayed on the job to complete some projects.

During 2000, Coachmen bought two modular home building companies and one modular structures firm.

Stout also was chairman of the RV/MH Heritage Foundation Board of Directors during 1999. The foundation is raising funds to build a new RV/manufactured housing industry museum and library on the northeast side of Elkhart.

No word was immediately available about whether Stout would be replaced.
