General RV has partnered with Boy Scouts of America to donate hundreds of tents to local youth, according to WOODTV.
In its second year, the Trade Your Tent event hopes to help the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts get excited about camping.
General RV sales manager Mike Sweeney says the partnership came naturally.
“Just like them, we love to have fun and we love to go camping,” Sweeney said. “That’s really what it all comes down to, spending time with your friends and family.”
Last year, General RV accepted over 150 tents that were donated to the Michigan Crossroads Council in Walker. From there, Sweeney says the tents have trickled into troops across West Michigan.
General RV offers a $500 rebate that can be used towards the purchase of any new or used RV or trailer. As a former Boy Scout himself, Sweeney says this event is a win-win for both parties.
“Any sale is just any sale, but when you do something like this that really makes an impact. That is what makes it special,” Sweeney said.
