Genesis_logo_finalGenesis Products, an Elkhart, Ind.-based company that supplies the recreational vehicle industry with wood products, will not be moving to the old industrial corridor along Ninth Street in Goshen after all.

As reported by the Elkhart Truth, the company had issued an offer to purchase the former Western Rubber property along the Marion Branch railroad last year. Genesis had proposed a two-phase development, investing $2 million in the initial phase in 2014 and the second phase being constructed within five years.

But it never came up with a purchase agreement with the Goshen Redevelopment Commission, according to Becky Hershberger, brownfield coordinator for the city.

Additionally, the company is close to acquiring property in the industrial park on the south side of Goshen, Hershberger said in a memo to the commission.

The commission voted to withdraw the offer for sale and purchase of the former Western Rubber site, and now the commission is trying to figure out what to do with the property.
