RVers will get a chance to enhance their driving skills during the Good Sam VIP Safety Rally, which begins Saturday (May 15) in New Carlisle, Ind., which is about 10 miles west of South Bend.
First-time RVers and seasoned veterans of the RV lifestyle will be able to gather additional knowledge during the event, which begins at 8 a.m. at the Bosch Automotive Proving Grounds.
The rally will continue through Monday (May 17).
The sponsors are the Good Sam Club membership organization for RVers, Good Sam Insurance, General Motors Corp., the Recreation Vehicle Safety Education Foundation (RVSEF) and Hart City RV, a dealership in nearby Elkhart, Ind.
The rally will feature the following:
• The RV Safety Review, including a free weigh-in of each participant’s rig and classroom discussion about weight distribution, tire pressure and other safety information. RVSEF instructors will lead the discussions.
• The Hands On Driving Course in which each participant will spend time behind the wheel of an RV provided by Hart City RV. Good Sam VIP Insurance instructors will provide the training.
• The Auto Hands on Driving Course will provide practice an off-road recovery, skids and turns in an automobile. General Motors instructors will do the training.
