Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has introduced its first tire that was custom-designed for Class A and Class C motorhomes and it is assembling network of Certified RV Service Centers.
Additionally, the Akron, Ohio-based company has launched a website, www.goodyear.com/rv, specifically for RV enthusiasts which “addresses the unique issues concerning the selection, purchase and maintenance of tires for motorhomes and other recreational vehicles.”
Goodyear’s tire custom-designed for the RV market is the G670 RV Unisteel which the company says will “provide a smoother, more comfortable ride than standard commercial truck tires, which are frequently used on RVs.”
The G670 also “offers superior fuel economy and wet traction performance” along with “excellent durability, improved handling and ride stability.”
Goodyear continues to offer its Marathon radials for towable RV applications. “We are proud of the long-running success of our Marathon tire, and RV owners have given us such positive feedback on the G670 RV Unisteel product that we’ve added two additional sizes since the initial introduction,” said Dave Beasley, director of marketing for Goodyear’s Commercial Systems Group.
Concerning aftermarket service, Goodyear currently is training its network of independent Truckwise commercial tire service centers to address the specific needs of RV enthusiasts. After the training is complete, Goodyear will designate qualified Truckwise dealers as Certified RV Service Centers that will be available for both regular service and emergency roadside dispatch.
Throughout the RV show and rally season, Goodyear representatives will attend local and regional events both as exhibitors and workshop presenters as “part of the company’s continued emphasis on this segment of vehicles,” Beasley added.
