The Goshen, Ind., Plan Commission Tuesday (Jan. 22) gave their blessing to a request by Lippert Components Inc. for a rezoning from Agricultural A-1 to Industrial M-1 for property generally located at 3252 and 3414 Corrie Drive.
The Goshen News reported that Rhonda Yoder, planning and zoning administrator for the city, said the subject property was annexed into the city effective April 1, 2012. At that time, the annexation included three tracts on 56 acres, with Tract 1 zoned Industrial M-1 upon annexation, and tracts 2 and 3 zoned Agricultural A-1 upon annexation.
However, Yoder noted that the annexation agreement at the time indicated that M-1 standards were to apply to the entire annexation area, adding that the current rezoning request will make the zoning consistent with the intended developmental standards.
“The rezoning is consistent with the industrial zoning in the area, and is consistent with the industrial land use in the area,” Yoder said, “and it basically just puts into place what was anticipated at the time of annexation.”
The commission agreed, and the request was unanimously forwarded on to the council with a favorable recommendation.
Lippert, a supplier serving the recreational vehicle, manufactured housing and cargo/horse trailer industries, said that the property is part of its chassis group expansion plans.
