Goshen police have arrested a man after forming a special unit to investigate a spate of thefts from RV companies.
The Elkhart Truth reported that the Goshen Police Department formed the unit to address an increase in burglaries and thefts from industrial areas of the city in recent months. The unit was comprised of officers from every shift in the department to focus on the thefts, according to the announcement Monday from Goshen police.
Officers arrested Vence Allen, 57, of Goshen, after observing him in the process of burglarizing Forest River at 3010 College Ave. He was booked in the Elkhart County Correctional Facility on a preliminary charge of burglary.
Department spokeswoman Tina Kingsbury said the thefts had been increasing over the last several months, with items such as televisions being removed from completed RVs and from inside the factory buildings themselves. The investigation into the alleged burglary involving Allen and into previous burglaries continues.
