Grand Design RV Co. has approved a building expansion on their current Middlebury, Ind., Ind., campus. According to a press release, the company is adding a 65,000-square-foot addition to its lamination facility.

Grand Design’s President/CEO Don Clark stated, “Grand Design has been in a rapid expansion mode ever since we opened our doors, just over two years ago. Because of our growth and the increasing demand for our products, it has become necessary to add to our infrastructure. Our 65,000-square-foot addition will increase the size of our lamination facility to over 130,000 square feet.”

Clark said that in addition to streamlining the lamination process, the new building will also house pre-delivery inspection (PDI) operations.

“We test all major mechanical and plumbing processes in the manufacturing plant,” Clark noted. “To ensure all Grand Design products arrive at our dealers with the utmost quality, Grand Design re-inspects and again, does a complete PDI inspection at a separate facility.  Grand Design is the only towable manufacturer that has incorporated both inspection processes on 100% of all products we build.”

The expansion will add approximately 35 new jobs to the Middlebury Indiana based company bringing Grand Design’s employee base to just over 670 people.
