Produced by the MHRV Show Association, the Grand Puyallup RV Show featured 17 RV dealers displaying about 350 units both indoors and outside the facility as well as a “Field of Dreams” area with about 40 used units on display.
“It was pretty good. We had super good weather – record highs in the 80s every single day – so all the lookers went to the lake and all the buyers came to the show. I had one dealer tell me they had a great show and they sold more than they expected,” Dave Helgeson, MHRV show director, told RVBUSINESS.com.
He added that although the total attendance was down about 400 people from a year ago, the show boasted the most display square footage since 2005.
In addition, the show featured three on-site model manufactured homes, 40 booth exhibitors and about 20 different RVing seminars that covered everything from great RV destinations to financing, safety and retirement.
This was the second and final RV show this year for MHRV, and Helgeson said judging by the attendees at the seminars the area is in store for another RV-buying surge.
“I always ask the people at my seminars how many are current owners and how many are in the market for their first RV,” he said. “Usually it’s about 50-50, but this year there were more people looking to get into the RV lifestyle than before. And they all were asking the right questions. They’re definitely doing their homework. There’s no doubt these people will be ready to buy soon.”
Exhibiting dealers included: Apache Camping Center in Tacoma; Baydo’s RV Center in Fife; Clearview RV in Snohomish; DeTray’s Custom Housing in Puyallup; DeTray’s LLC in Olypmia; Fife RV & Auto in Sumner; Five Star RV in Everett; Freespirit Recreation in Bend; Pacific Travel Center in Tacoma; Paul Evert’s RV Country in Fife; Poulsbo RV in Kent; Purple Line LLC in Dublin, Calif.; South Hills RV in Puyallup; Sumner RV Center in Sumner; Sunset RV in Bonney Lake; Tacoma RV Center in Fife; and the Valley RV Supercenter in Kent.
