Grasshaven Outdoor, a premier RV housewares and glamping equipment company, was selected by Rep. Jared Polis to be part of Colorado’s National Startup Day held Wednesday (Aug. 19).
According to a press release, Dawn Bitz, Grasshaven’s founder and CEO, was also selected to participate on the Women in Innovative Economy Panel formed by Polis to understand motivators and barriers of women entrepreneurs. Other members of the panel included Camp Bow Wow CEO Heidi Flammang and Sue Heilbronner and Elizabeth Kraus, co-founders of Mergelane, a business accelerator focused on companies with female leadership.
Polis founded Startup Day Across America in 2013 with California Rep. Darrell Issa as a way to recognize the innovation created by startups and connect elected officials with startups in their communities so they can learn first-hand about the unique challenges new companies face. The day began with a visit to Grasshaven’s flagship retail store located in Boulder, Colo., and ended with a reception hosted by Polis.
“Boulder and really the entire front-range is such a hot bed of innovative start-up companies so to be selected is truly an honor,” said Dawn Bitz, CEO of Grasshaven Outdoor. “As a successful entrepreneur and co-founder of Techstars himself, Rep. Polis represents start-up passions and successes. We are grateful to be recognized as an innovative company and to be a part of the national day he co-founded.”
Through its website, Grasshaven’s flagship retail store in Boulder has formed retail collaborations with high-end camping resorts nationwide, an expansive nationwide RV dealership network from New England to Oregon, and is further expanding sales channels.
