A positive sign for the summer of 2003 in the consumer arena is the robust signup for Affinity Group Inc.’s fourth annual Great North American Rally (GNAR), as nearly 4,000 RV rig owners have confirmed reservations for the June 16-19 event in Louisville, Ky.
Those reservations translate into about 7,500 consumers. Day passes will be available.
Slated for the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center, the same venue where RVIA’s annual National RV Trade Show is held, the GNAR over the past three years has gained a reputation as one of the largest consumer-oriented events in the industry.
It brings together members of AGI’s clubs, as well as readers of the Ventura, Calif.-based firm’s varied publications.
This year’s GNAR features a wideranging menu of activities for RVers, including lifestyle seminars, entertainment by the Oak Ridge Boys and The Marvelettes, plus tours of area attractions.
There will be bowling and golf tournaments, an Oreo Cookie Stacking contest and a “Rally Idol” contest in which contestants can show off their singing skills — similar to TV’s popular American Idol series.
In addition, RV manufacturer and accessory suppliers will host hundreds of displays.
