Gulf Stream Coach Inc., Nappanee, Ind., has hired back 50 laid off workers during the last six weeks in its motorhome division and expects to increase production of ”affordable” Conquest Class C’s and gas-powered Sun Voyager Class A’s by 25% by the first of the year.

”We are increasing production and we are bringing people back,” said David Middleton, motorized national sales manager.

Middleton said the company expects increased orders for lower-priced motorhomes during the 47th Annual National RV Trade Show, Dec. 1-3 in Louisville, Ky.

”At Louisville people will be looking for the price point we are talking about, and we are expecting to increase production after the show,” Middleton said.

The 2010 Conquest base MSRP is $58,000, while the 2010 Sun Voyager retails from $92,000.

In a press release, Brian Shea, president of family-owned Gulf Stream’s motorized division, said that it’s likely that motorized production lines won’t have an extended layoff this holiday season.

”The historic extra time off during the holidays just may be a thing of the past,” Shea said. ”We are ready to fill our growing number of orders.”
