Gulf Stream Coach Inc. is among the RV manufacturers getting model year 2002 off to an early start and the company has scheduled an open house for mid-May to give dealers an opportunity to see its 2002 offerings.

The Gulf Stream dealer open house will take place May 16-24 at the company’s manufacturing complex in Nappanee, Ind. Dealers wanting to schedule a visit should call 1-800-289-8787, extension 3664.

Gulf Stream is not putting dealers in an awkward position by launching the new model year before the traditional July 1 start date “because we didn’t build a lot of 2001s when it was slow,” said Brian Shea, president of the motorhome division.

The company started building the 2002 version of its highline Friendship diesel Class A motorhome in February and its Goshen and Nappanee, Ind., production plants switched over to building the other year 2002 models in the last few weeks, Shea said.

“We kept our dealer inventories low so we’re ready to go (for model year 2002),” Shea said.

Gulf Stream also will schedule dealer meeting on the West Coast this summer to show its 2002 Friendship, Shea added.
