H. Wayne Hambly of P.E.I. Home and RV Centre, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, has been elected president of the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association of Canada (RVDAC).
Hambly is past president of the Atlantic RVDA, an affiliated regional dealership association representing Canada’s eastern provinces. He has been on the RVDAC board since 1967, becoming vice president in 2004.
“I am very excited about the direction and growth the association has had over the past few years and I will strive to ensure its continued success,” Hambly said.
In addition to his RV dealership, Hambly also operates four manufactured housing communities, a furniture store and other rental property developments.
Other RVDAC officers elected during the association’s recent annual meeting at the 2006 RV Dealers International Convention and Expo in Las Vegas were Vice President Kevin Betzold of GNR Camping World, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Treasurer Michel Cote of MAC Caravane, Laval, Quebec.
During the RVDA of Canada’s Annual Meeting, Kim Stone of Stone’s RV and Home Centre, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, was named 2005 Canadian RV Dealer of the Year from among seven nominees.
Stone, who opened the dealership in 1977 and since has expanded to a second location in Sydney, Nova Scotia, also is a manufactured home dealer. He is the former president of the RVDA of Nova Scotia and the Atlantic RVDA, and currently is a member of RVDAC’s board of directors.
Other nominees were: Brad Campkin, Campkin’s Camping Centre, Myrtle Station, Ontario; Barry Devereus, Luxury Motorhomes, Carleton Place, Ontario; Darren Gelowitz, Village RV, Regina, Saskatchewan; Ron Hall, Eldorado RV Sales, Lethbridge, Alberta; and Sylvia Thistle-Miller, Triangle RV, Sydney, British Columbia.
