The Pennsylvania RV and Camping Show recently was named one of the 50 fastest growing trade shows in North America by Tradeshow Week (TSW), a weekly trade publication for the exhibitions industry.
The Pennsylvania RV and Camping Show takes place each September in Harrisburg and is owned by the Pennsylvania RV and Camping Association (PRVCA).
Promoters of the Harrisburg Show and the other 49 events will be honored on Saturday (Nov. 8) at a black-tie gala in Houston.
“The trade show industry, in many sectors, has not been a casualty of challenging economic times in recent years,” said Adam Schaffer, TSW’s publisher. “If anything, we are seeing a steady growth curve emerging with increased levels of exhibitors and new vendors. The TSW Fastest 50 is intended to showcase that growth.”
The Harrisburg show and the 49 other events were selected by TSW based upon increases in net square footage from 2000 through 2002.
The Harrisburg show is an indoor and outdoor event that has benefitted from the addition of three new pavilions during the last few years on the State Farm Show Complex in that city, adding about 359,000 square feet of indoor space.
Of course, RV industry support and the growing public interest in the RV lifestyle were the reasons why the PRVCA was able to put the new indoor exhibit space to use and to continue to have demand for outdoor space.
This year’s Harrisburg show occurred Sept. 8-14, with Sept. 8-9 being trade-only days and Sept. 10-14 retail days.
A total of 663 RV dealers registered for this year’s show, a 48% increase over last year’s dealer turnout, and public attendance increased 22% to 35,546 this year from 29,201 in 2002.
The 2004 Harrisburg Show is scheduled for Sept. 7-12, with the trade days set for Sept. 7-8 and the retail days Sept. 9-12.
