Hart City RV Supercenter, Elkhart, Ind., will invest in the construction of some new facilities to house a Camping World accessories store that is expected to open the middle of next summer, according to Hart City owner Dick Aker.
“It’s a great opportunity for Hart City and for Elkhart,” Aker said. “It’ll make our dealership and Elkhart a destination for RVers.”
Under the terms of the agreement with Camping World, a national chain of RV-related aftermarket accessories stores, Hart City will pay for the construction of a building that will house the Camping World store, which Camping World will lease for at least 10 years.
The layout of Hart City’s showroom facilities will be modified so customers will use a single entrance to get either to Camping World or the Hart City showroom, Aker said.
Once completed, Hart City and Camping World will occupy a total of 60,000 square feet of interior space on Elkhart’s west side.
The “alliance” between Hart City and Camping World is an example of Camping World’s Gold Medal Dealer program, Aker said. Camping World’s goal is to form 30 such dealer alliances within the next five years, he added.
Camping World is a unit of Affinity Group Inc., parent of TL Enterprises Inc., of which RVBUSINESS.COM is a service.
Hart City is a 20-year-old dealership that is generally believed to be the largest seller of new units built by Newmar Corp., which has its factories located about 20 miles south of the dealership. Hart City also inventories new units built by the Indiana operations of Monaco Coach Corp. and Carriage Inc., which is located in nearby Millersburg, Ind.
