While not officially qualifying as a recreational vehicle, this on-location trailer occupied recently by performers Robert DeNiro, Will Smith and Mariah Carey and supermodel Tyra Banks – not all at the same time – is the prototype for an upcoming line of fifth-wheels from Anderson Mobile Estates Inc., Big Pine Key, Fla. The 53-foot-long coach, equipped with independent suspension and featuring granite in profuse amounts, was displayed at the recent Pennsylvania Recreation Vehicle and Camping Show at Hersheypark, Hershey, Pa. “We hope to have a smaller version designed for the RV industry within the next year,” said President Ron Anderson. With 1,200 square feet of living space, the coach has opposing first-floor slideouts and a second floor that telescopes upward, powered by synchronized, gyro-controlled electric motors. Both the upstairs and downstairs feature open 45-foot-long, 7-foot-high rooms with the upper level affording a 360-degree view. “This is not a trailer that was converted from anything,” said Anderson. “We started out with a blank piece of paper and designed this to be what it is today.” The price? Upwards of $2.5 million.
