Holiday Holdings LLC, a company formed earlier this year to create an alliance of RV dealerships, now has some of the industry’s highest-profile retailers as its regional presidents.
And Holiday Holdings, founded by Affinity Group Inc. (AGI) Chairman Stephen Adams and operated by former AutoNation Inc. regional director Marcus Lemonis, continues to grow.
The dealership principals, who have agreed to sell to Holiday Holdings with the stipulation that they remain on the job as Holiday Holdings’ regional presidents, include the following:
• Craig Jensen of Blaine Jensen & Sons of Kaysville, Utah, with dealerships in Kaysville and Salt Lake City.
• Al Binford of Emerald Coast RV Center Inc., with seven stores in Florida and Alabama.
• Kent Lester, Holiday Kamper, a multi-location dealership consisting of seven stores in North and South Carolina.
• Randy Thompson of Crystal Valley RV of Island Lake, Ill.
• Mike Stier of Stier’s RV Sales, Stier’s Leisure Vehicles Inc., Stier’s Camperland & Consignment and American RV Outlet, with locations in Bakersfield and Valencia, Calif.
Lemonis calls Holiday Holdings an alliance, rather than a roll-up or a buying group. He describes it is a highly decentralized, professional sales-and-service-oriented company with a local and regional management style that will benefit customers, employees, RV suppliers and the industry in general.
“It’s definitely good for the customer because it provides convenience, consistency and stability,” Lemonis said. “It’s obviously good for the associates because it provides stability and growth opportunities. It’s clearly a benefit to the industry because now you have someone (Adams) who is willing to invest the capital and the infrastructure to take the industry to the next level, and he’s willing to do that by rounding up individuals who bring experience and success and proven leadership to the group.”
Holiday Holdings’ regional presidents are widely respected dealers who will help raise professional standards and each has the leeway to acquire and manage stores within his or her own multi-state territory, Lemonis added.
Combined, the founding group of regional presidents have 158 years of experience in RV retailing.
As far as Holiday Holdings is concerned, the regional presidents’ territories are assigned as follows:
• Jensen is responsible for operations in Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Arizona and Nevada.
• Binford’s territory is Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.
• Lester is responsible for North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
• Thompson’s territory is Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin.
• Stier is responsible for California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska.
Each regional president, along with Adams, Lemonis and four other individuals, occupy seats on Holiday Holdings Board of Directors.
The five founding dealerships, plus Dusty’s Camper World of Bartow, Fla., which Binford recently brought into the Holiday Holdings alliance, have a combined $500 million in annual revenue, sell around 11,000 units per year and have more than 600 employees, Lemonis said.
Binford also is close to acquiring Pepco RV Center of Tallahassee, Fla., and Thompson’s work to acquire Sirpilla RV Center, Akron/Canton, Ohio, is expected to be completed in January, Lemonis said.
