RV delivery firm Horizon Transport has purchased 14.5 more acres in Wakarusa, Ind., to allow for company expansion, according to the Elkhart (Ind.) Truth newspaper.
The Wakaursa-based Horizon, which is owned by Mel and Ruth Schrock, delivers travel trailers, fifth-wheels and motorhomes from manufacturers to dealers. It has experienced a surge in demand for its services since the beginning of this year as the RV industry recovers from soft market conditions experienced during 2000 and 2001.
Because of higher production rates at Elkhart area RV builders so far this year, the Schrocks’ lot in Wakarusa has overflowed, so they decided to buy the extra land.
Horizon is a 650-driver firm that also has a satellite office in the Coburg, Ore., area.
