Charlotte, Mich.-based Spartan Motors Inc. has named Art Ickes president of its Spartan Chassis unit, according to a report in the Lansing State Journal.
He replaces Richard Schalter, who resigned last week. Ryan McGrath, a spokesman for the specialty vehicle and chassis maker, said the change takes effect immediately.
Ickes formerly was vice president of operations.
Spartan said in a one-sentence statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that Schalter stepped down on Dec. 29.
The company said that Schalter’s departure was not related to a recent federal contract kickback scheme related to Spartan Chassis’ armored military vehicle work.
Spartan Chassis last month was fined $4.3 million after admitting wrongdoing in paying a former Force Protection Inc. employee for steering it business. It also faces up to a $1.7 million fine in a related civil case.
