Gander Outdoors is expanding its Fort Wayne, Ind., business to include recreational vehicles, according to documents filed with the Department of Planning Services.

The Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette reported that parent Freedom Roads LLC of Lincolnshire, Ill., has asked for three Gander Outdoors properties to be rezoned to allow sales and servicing of recreational vehicles.

The land, about 7 1/2 acres, is zoned in three classifications — limited commercial, general commercial and shopping center. The applicant is seeking to have it all zoned general commercial. That classification would allow for outdoor display and storage of vehicles while they’re undergoing service, according to the application.

Also sought is a waiver of a setback requirement for a security fence to protect the vehicles.

Gander Outdoors formerly was Gander Mountain. The latter declared bankruptcy and was acquired in a bankruptcy auction in 2017 by Illinois-based Camping World Holdings.
