The RV industry will kick off its year-long celebration of the RV Centennial in 2010 at the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) “Outlook 2010: Let the Sun Shine” market expansion showcase, taking place Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 6:45 a.m. in Louisville, Ky., at the 47th Annual National RV Trade Show.
RV historian and renowned RV collector David Woodworth will be a special guest at “Outlook 2010” where he will be presented with RVIA’s Spirit of America award for his nearly two decades of service to the industry as an enthusiastic ambassador and media spokesperson.
Woodworth will speak to the expected 1,000 attendees about the growth of the industry over the past 100 years, the evolution of RVs and plans for the RV Centennial Celebration. In addition, a special RV Centennial video will debut and Outlook attendees will take part in a special all-industry toast to the 100th Anniversary.
Following the breakfast, Woodworth will appear at the RV Centennial booth in the Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC) South Wing Lobby C, where some of his RV memorabilia will be displayed and more information on the RV Centennial Celebration will be available.
The RV Centennial is an industry-wide, year-long celebration to recognize the 100th anniversary of the RV industry with an array of events and promotions highlighting the RV industry’s proud past and bright future. The year 1910 has been identified as the beginning of the RV industry when the first mass-produced, manufactured auto campers and camping trailers — the forerunners of today’s RVs — were built.
“Outlook 2010: Let the Sun Shine” will provide an energizing start to RVIA’s 47th Annual National RV Trade Show with a lineup of presentations that will stress a strong message of optimism as the RV industry looks to rebound in the coming year. The free event will begin at 6:45 a.m. with a complimentary sit-down breakfast in the KEC South Wing C Mezzanine Ballroom. Attendees are encouraged to come early as lines form well before the doors open.
“Outlook 2010” will be hosted by RVIA Chairman of the Board Jim Sheldon, and feature “Radiant, Relevant, and Ready,” RVIA President Richard Coon’s thoughts on how RVIA has helped the industry weather the storm and prepare for a new beginning.
In Go RVing: “Spreading Sunshine in ’09 and Beyond,” Go RVing Coalition Co-Chairmen Dicky Riegel and Tom Stinnett will be joined by RVIA Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Gary LaBella to discuss how the Go RVing campaign stoked consumer demand in 2009. The trio will also unveil new television spots and innovative website content scheduled for launch early next year.
Following the Go RVing presentation, RVIA Public Relations Committee Chairman B.J. Thompson will team with LaBella to demonstrate how RVIA PR protected the image of the RV industry despite the year’s gloomy news environment in RVIA Public Relations: “Keeping Our Image Bright.”
The “Outlook 2010: Let the Sun Shine” program and breakfast are free for attendees on a first-come, first-served basis. All National RV Trade Show attendees are welcome, and no reservations are necessary.
Designed to convey valuable and relevant information as the show begins, “Outlook 2010” is the ideal way for manufacturers, dealers and their entire teams to start the day on Dec. 1. Show attendees are urged to save the 6:45 to 9:00 a.m. time slot and avoid scheduling conflicting events to enable industry representatives at all levels to attend. Show badge registration will be available in the South Wing Lobby C Entrance prior to the event.
