For the first time this May, race fans get a chance to spend all night inside the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). In fact, they can spend four nights around Indy 500 race weekend at a campsite that closely resembles hotel accommodations.

WTHR TV reported that IMS is offering “glamping” – or “glamorous camping” – for four nights this May. Fans can camp inside the track in tents with a queen bed, two twin beds or four cots.

About one hundred to two hundred tents will be set up in the infield. Fans can select their accommodations which also includes a ‘lounge,’ a movie screen, and even a concierge. The deal also includes tickets to the race and all events leading up to it.

“Glamping” is the latest offering in an effort to bring a dwindling fan base back to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“Glamping’ is sort of a rage,” explains Doug Boles, president of IMS, who spent the night Tuesday with members of the media to preview and promote the new option.
