Traffic was strong for the opening of the INDY RV Show at the Indiana State Fairgrounds

The 49th edition of the INDY RV Expo got off to a great start over the weekend as a record crowd of more than 4,000 passed through the doors at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Saturday (Jan. 7). The show, sponsored by the Central Indiana RV Dealers, runs through Jan. 15. (To view a slideshow scroll to the right side of the RVBUSINESS.com home page).

Saturday’s crowd was tremendous” Ken Eckstein, president of Mount Comfort RV, Greenfield, told RVBUSINESS.com. “We had more than 4,000 attendees, which was the largest opening day ever, surpassing last’s years record number of 3,600. Five years ago we were pleased with 2,500 on a Saturday.”

Christy Kirk, general manager of Modern Trailer Sales, Anderson, noted, “It was the busiest opening day we have ever had. Traffic was here early, our exhibit was full and we were writing deals earlier than ever. If this is a prediction of the rest of the year, it is going to be a great 2017.”

Participating dealers included Braun’s Fun Time Campers, Indianapolis; Camping World RV of Indianapolis, Greenwood; Colerain RV, Indianapolis; Lafayette Trailer Sales, Lafayette; M&K Sport Coach, Indianapolis; Modern Trailer Sales, Anderson; Mount Comfort RV, Greenfield; and Walnut Ridge Family RV Sales, New Castle.

Matt Rose, director of recreation vehicles for the Indiana Manufactured Housing Association-Recreation Vehicle Indiana Council (IMHA-RVIC) who oversees advertising and coordinates media coverage, reported, “The attendance blew away our expectations. The show is off to a great start and we anticipate the same for the Valley RV & Camping Show which kicks off this coming weekend at South Bend’s Century Center.”
