Luxury Woven Vinyl (LWV), a new flooring option that eliminates many of the problems inherent in carpeting and linoleum found in recreational vehicles, has become available from INFINITY LUXURY WOVEN VINYL. “We don’t want people to just buy our product, we want them to be educated on its value,” said Warren McCrickard, director of marketing and communications for the eight-year-old Dalton, Ga., company. “It is long-lasting, easy to clean and pet- and stain-resistant. Just as important, it’s a product that has green qualities. It’s completely recyclable.”
Infinity’s all-weather Luxury Woven Vinyl already has made inroads in the marine industry, being employed by Brunswick Boat Group, Cruiser Yachts and Bennington Pontoons, among others, and in the aerospace industry by Gulfstream.
In the RV industry, Airstream Inc. started with tremendous success using Luxury Woven Vinyl in its 2014 Classic travel trailer line. Little Guy International uses it in the new Cirrus truck camper and Augusta RV utilizes it on both the floors and the walls of their LUXE models. Discussions are underway for Luxury Woven Vinyl to be installed in some units from Forest River Inc., Thor Industries Inc. and Jayco.
Luxury Woven Vinyl is now also available to the aftermarket for RV dealers and restoration specialists. Sold as fabric only, or with a thin or thick blown-vinyl backing, it is easy to install as flooring but can also be used on walls and ceilings for a truly customized look.
“If you are an RV family tracking in mud, you can use soap and water to clean it,” McCrickard said. “It’s no-muss, no-fuss. And it’s antimicrobial and dries quickly so it eliminates the stink you can find in traditional carpets. Bleach and gasoline doesn’t affect it, either.”
The revolutionary product has undergone an evolution since the company, which employs about 20 people in a 32,000-square-foot factory Northwest of Atlanta, was founded in 2007 by owners Steve Couch and Jason Allred.
“We’ve developed the perfect floor covering for places where carpet never made sense,” Couch said.
Currently INFINITY LWV is available in 17 different weaves and 160 colors. As a flooring, it can be adhered to one of two different backings — one that is compact or the other that is about the thickness of a yoga mat and provides a more cushioned feel.
“With Luxury Woven Vinyl, different weaves create different tactile sensations,” McCrickard said.
As a wall covering, it can be applied directly to the interior substrate without the backing.
Available in 8 1/2- and 10-foot widths, Luxury Woven Vinyl is available only factory-direct. “We have the ability run large orders for manufacturers or, if you are a dealer or a DIYer, we can do one-off custom orders and we will partner you with installers who can apply it for you,” McCrickard said.
Bottom line is that Luxury Woven Vinyl makes for a simpler RV lifestyle. “You walk on the floor all the time — but you don’t pay any attention to it,” McCrickard said. “If you’re not spending your time cleaning the floor, you can go hiking in the outdoors or doing other things that RVers enjoy.”
In addition to Luxury Woven Vinyl, Infinity Fabrics is developing a new line of upholstery and canvas awning tops that will be available in the coming months.
Luxury Woven vinyl has a 10-year limited warranty against fading and lasts five times as long as traditional carpeting.
