NAPPANEE, Ind. – Known for innovative designs and quality construction, inTech RV on Thursday introduced an all-new model in its Sol lineup, the Sol Dusk.
“We have a full Sol lineup already. We have three models,” said Keith Fishburn, inTech Sales Manager. “This is the fourth model. It’s about a foot-and-a-half longer than the others.”
On the exterior, the new Sol Dusk is very similar to other Sol models, with full fiberglass exterior, an all-aluminum base frame with a fully-welded cage and frame construction and – of course – the distinctive inTech panoramic front window.
“But the inside is where we were able to do quite a bit more with that extra foot-and-a-half,” Fishburn said. “We’ve got a cool twin-bed lounge configuration that you can swap back and forth” between two twin beds and a queen bed.
Previous Sol models featured a queen bed in the rear and, “You had to crawl over each other to get in and out,” Fishburn said. “We started doing twin beds in some of our larger, 8-foot-wide models had a lot of people asking for a twin bed in the 7-foot-wide, smaller versions.”
So, inTech designed the back end of the new Dusk with two north-south twin beds that double as loungers. A filler can be installed between them, and by using the backrests from the loungers, the sleeping area can be converted into an 80- by 80-inch bed.
In addition, vinyl was used over the top of the bed cushions for use in lounge mode, but flip the cushions over and bedding material on the backside offers a cooler, more comfortable sleeping solution.
“That’s the big change that we have in this model from the other Sol products,” Fishburn said.
Other features inside are all Sol, with a large U-shaped lounge up front to compliment the large front window; a kitchen setup featuring a refrigerator, two-burner cooktop and deep stainless sink; and a wet bath.
The Sol Dusk, as in other Sol models, will be available in a Rover package which adds larger 235-size knobby tires and 3 inches of additional ground clearance.
Torsion axles come standard on all Sol models, giving an independent suspension feel to the trailer.
And, as always, high quality and industry-leading fit and finish are hallmarks of the new Sol Dusk, officials noted.
“Our goal is not to make a ton of product, as opposed to making a very high-quality unit,” Fishburn said. “Larger manufacturers do the big volume very well. For us, we look at the market and see that we can come in and we can make a high-quality, unique, well-designed product that’s at a higher price point. We’re not going to produce as many a day, but it becomes our niche in the market.”
The Dusk RVBusiness previewed at inTech’s facility in Nappanee is a prototype, but production models are expected to start rolling off the line in a couple of weeks and will be on display at the Elkhart RV Open House next month, Fishburn said.
