Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton will tour Airstream Inc. headquarters in Jackson Center, Ohio, Monday (Oct. 25) to promote “Take Pride in America,” a national partnership coordinated by the U.S. Department of Interior that supports and recognizes volunteers who work on public lands.
While there, Norton, who recently toured a Monaco Coach Corp. plant in Oregon to highlight the year-old Take Pride program, will also present a “certificate of appreciation” to Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) President Dave Humphreys and Go RVing Coalition Co-Chairman Don Walter, president of Starcraft RV Inc., Topeka, Ind., on behalf of the industry-wide Go RVing marketing campaign for “its efforts to reach more than two billion people annually with positive images of people pursuing their passions in the outdoors.”
“Secretary Norton’s visit to Airstream comes at an important time for the recreation vehicle industry,” said Airstream President Dicky Riegel. “As devoted users of America’s national parks, forests and other public lands and waterways, Airstream owners and all RV users depend on responsible and proactive stewardship of our natural resources to protect their destinations.”
Also scheduled to attend THE 10:30 a.m. ceremony are U.S. Rep. Michael Oxley, Ohio State Sen. Jim Jordan, Ohio State Rep. Derek Seaver, American Recreation Coalition Chairman Derrick Crandall, Thor Industries Inc. Executive Vice President Walter Bennett along with other local and regional dignitaries.
