KELOWNA, B.C. – It’s going to be a knock-’em-down, drag-’em-out battle in West Kelowna this weekend when Traveland RV and Kelowna RVs go head to head in the Showroom Showdown.
The premise is simple: The two recreation vehicle businesses are going to go as low as they possibly can on prices to sell more units than the other. It promises to be a showdown of epic proportions.
“We’re going to put our best foot forward, and they’re going to put their best foot forward, and ultimately the winner in this is the customer,” Traveland RV general manager Tyler Steel says. “It’s good, healthy competition, and we think any time that two dealers go together and they want to put their best foot forward, good things typically happen.”
Showroom Showdown will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the two RV dealerships, which are located at 1460 Byland Road (Traveland RV) and 1780 Byland Road (Kelowna RVs). The way both are talking, it will be well worth the drive over the bridge from Kelowna to check out what the dealers have cooking— and we’re not just talking about the barbecues that will be humming at both.
The West Kelowna location is one of six Traveland RV franchises throughout Western Canada, while Kelowna RVs is on its own. So the latter views itself as the underdog in this Showroom Showdown.
“This is a David versus Goliath scenario,” Kelowna RVs dealer principal Daniel Haylow declares, “and we’re gonna take him down.”
While they are going head to head this weekend, the one thing on which Haylow agrees with Steel is the customers are going to finish first in the competition.
“They get to take advantage of us being a little bit crazy,” Haylow says with a laugh.
Both dealerships have plenty of inventory and will be offering sweet deals for those who check out the Showdown.
“If you’re looking for an RV,” Steel says, “this is the weekend to do it.”
