Bursting at the seams in its old location, Jamatt RV Sales, a full-service, towable dealership in Poteau, Okla., moved into a new 55,000-square-foot facility at the start of 2015.
Although construction took a year, the move wasn’t nearly as long. The new 20-acre location is next door to its previous operation.
The former location was a 12,000-square-foot facility on seven acres. The new facility is nearly five times the size and features an indoor showroom, 22 service bays and a larger parts and accessories center.
“Everything’s bigger,” said Sandy Blake, who owns Jamatt RV Sales with her husband, Jason.
“The main reason we built a new location was for service,” she continued. “I had six service bays over there (at the old location). I had technicians working outside and I was completely out of plugs-ins to even have any more work outside. Our service department was so busy because we work on other people’s trailers, too, besides just ours. It’s just amazing how much business we had. Of course, we needed to grow our sales and parts and everything else we had, too. We had been thinking about it for a year and finally we just did it.”
Located near the Arkansas state line, Jamatt RV Sales carries travel trailers, toy haulers and fifth-wheels by Keystone RV, Forest River and Prime Time RV. The retailer is a member of the Route 66 RV Network and a 2008 recipient of the RVBusiness Top 50 Dealer Awards.
The dealership started with the sale of a used travel trailer in 2002, and began selling new units the following year. Since then, Jamatt has expanded four times, including relocating into a larger facility 10 years ago.
“It’s grown quite a bit and very fast, which is a good thing,” Blake said, adding that the most recent expansion included hiring eight sales and 17 service employees.
Blake said this latest move will be the last. “My plan is to be done. Of course, I said that after the last one,” she sighed.
