Jayco Inc. posted its best month ever in May for retail sales of travel trailers, then posted a high for overall shipment sales volume in June, the RV maker reported.
“Some successful sales programs coupled with consumer traffic at shows and on dealer lots translated into several good months for Jayco,” stated Derald Bontrager, president of the 35-year-old Indiana firm. “The numbers from the last few months are good indicators that both Jayco and the RV market are gaining momentum following a period of reduced activity as a result of the War in Iraq, oil prices and other factors.”
Jim Jacobs, vice president, sales and marketing, said that the recent sales activity was particularly strong for the Middlebury-based company’s lower priced, entry-level travel trailers.
“We’re having real success with our Jay Flight line, which is designed and priced for RVers who are entering into the travel trailer market for the first time,” he said. “Travel trailers, and especially models considered to be entry-level, are beginning to represent a significant part of our business.”
Jayco is unveiling its entire 2004 model year July 21-23 in Orlando, Fla., during the company’s annual dealer meeting.
