Jayco Inc. will introduce two new Class C motorhome brands for model year 2002 that will be similar to its existing Designer and Eagle brands “except for décor and graphics,” according Bill Prinz, vice president of sales and manufacturing.
The new brands are Greyhawk, which will be available to certain Eagle dealers, and Granite Ridge, which will go to certain Designer dealers.
“Not all dealers will be changed to the new product names in the 2002 model year,” Prinz states in a letter to Jayco dealers. “We will phase these new names in over a two-to-three year period of time.”
Creating the new brands is not part of an effort to set-up new Jayco Class C dealers in existing dealers’ territories, Prinz emphasized.
The decision to create the new Class C brands is related to Jayco entering the Class A motorhome market. Production of Jayco’s first Class A began near Middlebury, Ind., on Monday (May 7).
To further explain the decision to create the new brands, Prinz wrote, “During the last few years, numerous new laws pertaining to motor vehicles have been enacted in various states. These laws have caused Jayco and other companies to review product names and how we use them in our dealer agreements, as well as on our products. These same issues now cause us to review our motorized product names.”
The decision to create the two new Class C brand names was made “upon advice from our legal counsel,” Prinz added in the letter to dealers.
