Jayco Inc. will shift production of its Eagle and Qwest fifth-wheel brands from LaGrange, Ind., to nearby Middlebury, Ind., next month (February).
The 120 employees who work on the two assembly lines will be given the opportunity to move with their jobs next month, said Sid Johnson, director of marketing.
Eagle and Qwest production will be moved into the new towable RV assembly plant in Middlebury which Jayco completed late in 1999, shortly before the industry’s downturn. The facility has been idle since then.
However, Johnson said Jayco will not abandon the factory complex it owns in LaGrange. Instead, the Middlebury-based company is suspending production in LaGrange until the time when demand for Jayco products reaches the point where re-opening the facility is a necessity to satisfy demand.
Otherwise, Jayco does not have a specific timetable for re-opening the LaGrange plant, Johnson said.
