John Crean, the 75-year-old founder and former chairman of Fleetwood Enterprises Inc., has joined Alfa Leisure Inc., the fifth-wheel and Class A motorhome builder headed by his son, Johnnie Crean.

The elder Crean now is a consultant to his son’s Chino, Calif.-based firm, and his first assignment is to evaluate the Alfa See Ya Class A, a mid-line diesel pusher with a suggested retail price of $183,500.

“I’m impressed with the design of the Alfa See Ya,” the Fleetwood founder said. “I have not seen anything anywhere in the industry, be it Fleetwood or any other manufacturer, that has the air conditioning, heating system or the head room that the Alfa See Ya offers. I was lured back by this and want to be a part of it. What I will be doing is creating a second model that will carry my name, the John Crean Signature Edition.”

The Crean Signature Edition is scheduled to become available in early fall.

The elder Crean plans to identify improvements to the See Ya after using the coach for six months.

He added that he anticipates the Crean Signature Edition will be priced below the See Ya.
