Shipshewana, Ind.-based K-Z RV is spearheading a hurricane relief effort in the local community to aid victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

“We must all respond to assist others in their times of need, whether that support be large or small. Every contribution is important, and it all adds up,” said President Aram Koltookian.

Koltookian  said that any donations can be dropped off at the K-Z facility in Shipshewana. The company, in turn, will purchase goods to top off the trucks and make donations to several charities in Texas and Florida.

“Our community has always responded to those in need, and they’ve really stepped up to the plate in embracing their civic responsibilities. They’re answering this effort in ways that transcend check writing,” Koltookian added.

K-Z is acting as a staging area for the local communities, collecting physical donations to aid with disaster relief efforts. All donations must be received at K-Z by Sept. 25.

According to FEMA, large plastic totes with lids are desperately needed, due to flooding and the limited places in the flood zones to place cardboard and trash,

FEMA suggests other items needed include bottled water, diapers, baby wipes, pet crates, paper toweling and toilet paper. Also accepted include personal hygiene items, baggies, trash bags, batteries, flashlights, but no food items, please.

“Our employees are donating money and supplies, and additional individuals and companies have donated and dropped off even more. I’d like to continue to spread the word to family, friends, suppliers and community partners; we really can make a difference, and I thank those who’ve already donated,” Koltookian concluded.
