Ketelsen RV Inc., a 42-year-old RV dealership in Marion, Iowa, is building a new 40,000-square-foot facility in nearby Hiawatha slated to open early next year, according to The Gazette, Cedar Rapids.
The new dealership will feature a showroom, 16 service bays, a large accessory sales area and a customer waiting area. The 15-acre site will provide a large parking area with 74 spaces for cars and pull-through parking spots for RVs.
The Gazette said the building will be accented with large stone and wood columns along with a massive limestone fireplace.
According to Vice President and General Manager Gary Ketelsen, the dealership, and its clientele, have simply outgrown the current facility built in 1973. Ketelsen also has ownership interest in Ketelsen Campers of Colorado Inc., which is run by his brother, Randy.
“Current service bays are not large enough to handle the largest RVs, which can be 131/2 feet tall,” he said.
Management had considered an expansion before deciding on the new location, which provides better visibility near I-380.
The newspaper reported that a new Wal-Mart Supercenter would take a small slice of the land occupied by Ketelsen RV in Marion.
