Keystone RV Co. has established a new lightweight travel trailer division to address the growing trend toward smaller cars and cross-over vehicles with consumers.
According to Keystone, the new division’s mission is to “quickly bring to market a full-featured, lightweight trailer that can be towed with smaller vehicles.” Launch date for the first of the new lightweight products is slated for late October.
“This product will cut its own path and bring to the market an ultra-lite that will genuinely excite the consumer,” said Chris Hermon, general manager for the Goshen, Ind.-based Thor Industries Inc. subsidiary. “Although targeted at the ultra-light weight range of 2,200 to 5,500 pounds, the products for our new division will be distinctive in appearance and offer a wide array of enhanced features.”
The new division will be headed up by Product Manager Jeff Kloska, who previously served as district sales manager for Keystone’s Cougar and X-lite divisions.
“In today’s changing market, the product team’s number one goal was to engineer and design an ultra-lite travel trailer that is aerodynamic and looks lightweight,” said Hermon. “We are out to change perceptions and not just be like everyone else. This ultra-lite line has done just that.”
Products will range in lengths from 16 feet to 32 feet and will be built at Keystone’s Goshen complex.
