The Keystone subsidiary of Thor Industries Inc. will build two more production plants in Goshen, Ind., which will add 160,000 square feet of space to the company’s manufacturing capacity and create 250 new jobs.
A ground breaking for the new facilities is scheduled for next Thursday (May 16) and the plants will be ready for production during the fall, according to Bill Fenech, president of Keystone’s Elkhart Division.
In February, Keystone’s Goshen Division, which is headed by Fenech’s brother, Ron, opened a new 85,000 square foot plant also in Goshen.
Keystone/Elkhart will continue operating its factory along County Road 20 in Elkhart after the two new plants are completed in nearby Goshen, said Bill Fenech.
“We see this expansion as an exciting move to help fulfill the incredible demand for Keystone/Elkhart products,” Bill Fenech said.
Keystone/Elkhart builds Challenger and Hornet brand travel trailers and fifth-wheels and Laredo and Everest brand fifth-wheels.
“In addition, the increased capacity will allow for future new product development,” Bill Fenech said.
Keystone did not request a tax abatement for its latest project because “we feel it is important that the city and county get the tax support they need to build the infrastructure which will encourage future growth,” Bill Fenech added.
